WHAT DOES SAAC DO?
  • Addresses concerns and suggestions of the student-athletes
  • Advocates for student-athlete well- being to enhance their experience
  • Interprets NCAA regulations directly impacting student-athletes
  • Creates and supports events that enhance the student-athlete experience
  • Supports fellow athletes
  • Bridges the gap with the entire student body, athletics, and key institution and community members

-- The committee is committed to enhancing the educational and leadership experiences of the student-athlete. --

National SAACs
An Association-wide SAAC was initially adopted in 1989 to review and offer student-athlete input on NCAA activities and proposed legislation that affected student-athletes. In 1997, the NCAA split the national SAACs along divisional lines. Currently, a total of 79 student-athletes in Division I, II, and III from 1,051 active institutions from across the country represent their schools on the national SAACs.

The goals of the national SAAC are to generate a student-athlete voice within the NCAA structure. solicit student-athlete response to proposed NCAA legislation, recommend potential NCAA legislation, review, react and comment to the governance structure on legislation, activities and subjects of interest, actively participate in the administrative process of athletics programs and the NCAA, and to promote a positive student-athlete image.

Mission Statement of the National SAACs
"The mission of the National Collegiate Athletic Association Student-Athlete Advisory Committee is to enhance the total student-athlete experience by promoting opportunity, protecting student-athlete welfare and fostering a positive student-athlete image."
